Earth Hour 2009 takes place, starting at 8.30 local time, on Saturday 28 March 2009. It will start at 8.30 pm in New Zealand and work it’s around the world, much the same as New Years Eve does. Earth Hour is an initiative by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to encourage folks of all ages, nationalities, race and background to turn off their lights for one hour. Doing so will be a vote for the earth whereas not switching off will be a vote for Global Warming.
